We got in from Montana late last night and I have to say…we were really sad to leave! Typically at the end of a vacation, I can not wait to return home but in this case, I wanted to stay. This year has been a challenging one for all of us and something about being around more nature and a slower pace of life is very appealing to Dylan and I. If you follow me over on stories, you know that we are actually thinking about relocating to Montana, eeeek! My brother lives in Bozeman and absolutely loves it. We have visited for years and have always loved it but this was the first time we went with the intention of really looking at homes and envisioning ourselves there. Much to our surprise, it feels like such a good fit. I was honestly pretty shocked by this because California has always felt like home and where I imagined us “selling down.” However, over the last year with COVID, quarantine, and the fires, all combined with the insanely expensive housing market here- we have started to seriously discuss other options. We planned this Montana vacation with very little expectations or pressure and couldn’t believe how much Bozeman, MT feels like home.
My parent’s have a home outside of Bozeman where my brother lives, so we always stay with him when we go to visit. Having Spencer in Montana is also what really adds to the feeling of “home” that I get being there. The endless gorgeous hikes, kind people, healthy restaurants, beautiful homes, and better housing prices doesn’t hurt either. (; There is just something about the VIBE of the state that makes you happy and relaxed.
Now that we are back in NorCal, we have a lot to think about. We will be going back to Montana this winter to make sure that we can get used to the snow but are honestly just SO excited for the possibility of this big change. If you want to see some of the homes we looked at during our time in MT, check out my Instagram highlights. Our dream is to build a home there in one of the new neighborhoods! Quite literally half the price of a home where we currently live in Sonoma County…
I also wanted to link up the outfits I wore in Montana. You can find everything linked below! 🙂
