We’ve officially made it to Sonoma County, cue the HAPPY DANCE!!!! Moving is anything but easy, but we are so excited to be up here! Since I share so much of my life and lifestyle through this blog and social media, I wanted to give you guys an update about our move and all of my thoughts on relocating to Northern California. First of all, I am so incredibly grateful for the company that Dylan works for because they recognized all of his hard work and decided he would be a great candidate for the wine sales territory in Sonoma County. It really all happened so fast, which was pretty crazy. We found out about the new territory opening up in Sonoma County (where I grew up), back during the holidays but didn’t say anything because we didn’t want to get our hopes up. Secretly, the whole time I was praying Dylan would get the job and we would get to move back to the area I’m from!! With all that happened to beautiful Sonoma County during the fires that recently occurred, I knew more than ever that I wanted to be back around my family and beautiful hometown of Healdsburg. I’ve lived away from Sonoma County now for the last seven years (HOW does time go so fast) and had been feeling like it was time to come back home for about the last year. It’s definitely a place I want to settle down, eventually purchase a home, and raise a family someday. Luckily, Dylan was very much ready to move to a new part of California and take a break from the hustle and bustle of Orange County where he has grown up. While we enjoyed our time living in Orange County together, we seriously can’t wait to begin this new chapter in Northern California. It feels amazing to surrounded by my family members and know that my friends from childhood are just miles away. Such a comforting feeling that I haven’t had in a long time!
I also have been so looking forward to all the new possibilities that moving up here will hopefully have for this blog. Visually, wine country is a very beautiful place to live. However, I have to admit I was nervous about the change it might have on the style of photos we typically take! My photos often have a very “beachy” SoCal feel to them which is going to change now that we are up here. This might sound silly, but when photography is such a big part of your job and business, this is something you think about! At the end of the day, I honestly just had to trust that the stars were aligning for us to move and that we will figure out a whole new go-to style of photography. Like I said over on Instagram, we’ve traded in the beach for the vineyards!
One of the highlights of the last year was having the pleasure of working with incredible brands, that are based out of Southern California. This is something that helped me so much to learn about blogging as a business and to grow. Although I just moved, I think I will still be coming down to LA for work, which makes me feel like it can hopefully be the best of both worlds! I’m thankful that the flight between the two is only an hour or so!
Another thing that get’s me so beyond excited to be in Sonoma County and wine country, is being close to San Francisco. I have a true love for San Francisco and we are now only about an hours drive away from downtown. I can’t wait for weekend trips to the city and to hopefully have the opportunity to work with new companies that are based there.
You know when things just feel right? When you know in your heart that something is going to bring about positivity and new beginnings? That is how I’ve felt ever since we found out about the move. This definitely isn’t to say that I haven’t been stressed about packing, moving, finding a few place, etc. Trying to be okay with not being in control and giving things over to God is something I’m continually working on.
We will be looking at some potential new homes this week and am excited to share what we find! I’ll keep you guys posted. 🙂
Thank you so much for supporting me along this blogging journey and as I share different pieces of my life. It’s always such a blessing to connect with you.
