My Look: Jeans | Top | Shoes
Hi All,
It’s been a little bit since I’ve published a post so I wanted to welcome you back to my website. In light of all that has been going on with the fires in Northern California, I stepped away from blogging last week. However, if you follow along on Instagram, you know that I shared a way that you can directly help those who have been affected by the fires. A friend of mine from high school has been accepting venmo payments that will directly help to provide essentials to those who are very much in need right now. To donate, all you need to do is send any amount via venmo to “AlexDrake1.” I promise that money is going to a good place and has already helped so many. Just last week alone, over $6,000 was raised!
My family and friends have been directly affected by these terrible fires so this situation is very close to home for me. The whole situation has been a huge reminder of just how precious life is. It’s reminded me what an incredible blessing it is to have a house over my head. I am thankful that all of my family and friends are safe and am continuing to pray that the fires end soon. I ask that you please pray too!
On a lighter note, today I wanted to share with you the photos we took this weekend in this getup from the Shopbop sale. I am very much in love with these Levi pants I picked up a few weeks ago during the sale! I’ve had my eye on them for a few seasons now and know that I’ll be wearing them a lot in the coming months. They have the perfect rips, don’t stretch out, and are high waisted which I love. Check them out here and make sure to size up if you order! I typically wear a size 26 but sized up to a 27 because of the lack of stretch.
Now on to the top!! Ugh, this top. The moment I saw this shirt online, I knew I needed to order it… I actually didn’t even realize it but I have the same exact print in a frame on my wall, HA. You all probably know by now that I’m a huge lover of all things feminine, so this t-shirt is right up my alley while also staying true to my other love of being comfy & casual.
Another thing I wanted to share with you this week are some of the ways I find gratitude in the small moments of life, even when I feel stressed, scared, and anxious. This was absolutely the case last week, I felt so helpless being away from all the people I love most and watching from afar while they were in a bad situation. The main thing that I do daily to find gratitude is to make sure I’m being mindful of my thoughts. It’s so easy sometimes to become worked up and fearful, sometimes before you even realize it. Last week was a big reminder for me that all you really have is the present moment. I try my best to be cognicent of my thoughts so I can catch them in the act if they’re leaning towards worry or fear. I notice a big difference when practicing this tool of mindful thinking because it’s shown me that I’m not victim to my thoughts. In every aspect of life, I always try to focus on the good. That isn’t to say I don’t have bad days or weeks where I feel fearful or scared. However, as fearful as I am, I always try to spend time throughout the day focusing on things I am grateful for. For example– I am grateful for the fact that my family is safe, I have food in my fridge, and that I have a roof over my head. I give the situation over to God & trust that He will protect me and guide me.
Thank you for reading and for all of the loving messages this week.
