Hi Friends!
This post has been a long time coming. As you probably know, I consider myself kind of like a human guinea pig within the realm of beauty. Sometimes I try beauty trends that end up being a fail and sometimes I try things and wonder how I ever lived without them. Today I want to talk to you about microblading, which 1000% falls into the “wonder how I ever lived without it” category.
(before of my brows + an old photo editing style that I’m now laughing at!!).
Let’s rewind to the end of summer– back to right before my first microblading appointment. I was incredibly curious about mircoblading for about 6 months and did tons of research before making my initial appointment. I looked into a handful of studios but ultimately picked Sav’s Browtique because I heard through the grapevine that she was the absolute best microblading artist in the area. I also loved how natural all of her work looked and how she creates a “fluffy” brow that doesn’t look overly “done.”
HOLD UP, you might be wondering what exactly microblading is… Well “microblading is a form of permanent makeup that provides thin or missing eyebrow hair the appearance of real hair using small deposits of pigment into the epidermis. This method is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows. The results show natural looking hair strokes even if there is not hair present.”
Do you ever feel like you walk out of the house every morning with two different brows!? SAME. Before microblading, I realized that I would often fill in my brows but end up having them look entirely different. This is because most of us actually have eyebrows that aren’t symmetrical, something I learned during the microblading process!
Another reason I wanted to get my brows done was because I was so sick of filling them in and heard that getting it done could really cut down on getting ready time. MAN, this is the TRUTH.
How long does microblading last?
The results can last anywhere from 11 to 18 months depending on skin type and properly following all after care instructions. A perfecting session will be scheduled 6-8 weeks after the first appointment and a touch up 6 months to a year after first session is recommended to retain shape & saturation of pigment.
To describe microblading in completely my own words, it’s essentially like getting a tattoo but much less painful. It’s very low commitment and low maintenance because of the time it saves you. It only goes three layers into the skin verses the seven of a tattoo. At first your brows will be very dark and then lighten up over about a two week period called the healing process. During my first appointment with Savannnah, we did microblading and then followed up the next appointment with brow shading to create a super fluffy brow. Another reason I love Sav’s Browtique so much is because all of her pigments are vegan, cruelty free, hyper allergenic, and metal free. I was so happy to hear this from her because I try to keep things as clean as possible in the beauty department!

All in all, I can’t recommend microblading enough! Having brows be symmetrical can really change your face in a good way and just makes life easier. It’s also helped me to feel confident going makeup free! For more tips on microblading, check out Sav’s website here. I also recorded lots of videos before, during, and after the process which can be found in my “microblading” IG highlight!
If you try it LMK your thoughts!! Thanks for reading!
