Last weekend we visited Big Sur for the first time and it was AMAZING! I wanted to quickly share some of the photos we took with you. We also visited Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve which is really close to Healdsburg. I can’t recommend these stops enough if you’re in for a little Northern California adventuring!
As I mentioned in last week’s post, there have been a lot of (positive) changes happening over here! We recently got engaged (STILL feels crazy to say that) and are in the process of moving. With all the hustle and bustle of life lately, it was so wonderful to take some time to celebrate our engagement at Vintners Inn last weekend. We spent the weekend enjoying their new spa addition, sleeping in, and simply celebrating being engaged! I think Dylan especially felt a big weight lifted from his shoulders, because apparently he had been planning the proposal for a while. (;
One of my favorite parts of living in Sonoma County and Northern California in general, is really enjoying all of the beautiful locations that our side of California has to offer! We live in the heart of wine country, so taking time to actually remember that (and enjoy it) it is really important to us.
Today’s post is for all of you friends and loved ones of the bride: bridesmaids & maids of honor! It seems like I turned 25, blinked, and all the weddings started happening! It’s such an exciting and amazing time for so many but at the same time can be a lot of work! After seeing some feedback on the photos and videos I shared of my best friend’s bachelorette party a few weekends ago, I knew I needed to do a post on the decor, decorating process, & give the lowdown on all things bachelorette weekend planning. This is my first time being a maid of honor and it’s for one of my oldest girlfriends! She is so special to me so I wanted the weekend to be beyond special for her. So, let’s get into all the details for the decor we ordered along with my top tips for planning a bachelorette weekend.
1. Plan Ahead
This might go without saying but being the #OCD planner that I am, I started planning about 6 months before the weekend. Some might call that crazy but it was honestly what helped to keep me super organized and on-top of it. I hate rushing that kind of stuff! Six months before the weekend, I coordinated with the bride to see what she wanted to do. Her family has a lake house in Northern Michigan, so she decided she wanted to have a girl’s weekend on the lake complete with a karaoke bar night at the local dive bar and lots of time boating. After nailing down the location and guest list, I had a big brainstorm session with the bride to hear what she was dreaming up as far as decor and ideas! I highly recommend basically “interviewing” the bride to gather her thoughts and vision so it’s really clear. 🙂
2. Keep a Spreadsheet With All The Links!
I can’t stress this one enough. Keeping an Excel spreadsheet was seriously the biggest time saver and help! After gathering the decor ideas over a period of about a month, I broke them up into sections like decorations, games, outfits, drinks, etc. After that, I sent everything to the bride so she could give me a green light on moving forward with the choices! I went back and forth with having it be a complete surprise (or not) but opted to keep her in the loop. She gave me a green light and from there I got together with her Mom to continue brainstorming.
3. Utilize Pinterest & Make a “Mood Board” With The Bride!
This was the biggest help with creating a “vision” for the weekend. I’m a big fan of little details, especially when it comes to decor. On Pinterest you can create a shared board so you and the bride/ bridal party can pin ideas! Lots of the pins we saved, we actually ended up ordering from as well. I blocked off an hour of my schedule each week to search for links and coordinate decorations starting back in the spring because I wanted it all to go together and coordinate well.
4. Send Out E-Vites Early
I sent out email invitations giving all the details for the weekend along with what to bring/ wear about 3 months prior. Here is the site we used for the free invitations!
5. Group Chat It Up
Another one of the biggest helps with coordinating times along with sending reminders for what to bring and everything in-between was having a group chat with all the girls. The week and day before the party, I sent out reminders giving everyone a heads up about last minute details. This is also where we coordinated gifts for the bride, t-shirt sizing, dietary restrictions– the whole 9 yards!
6. Order Decor With Plenty Of Time To Spare
There is nothing worse than getting down to the wire and realizing that some things you had planned to order are out of stock. To avoid this like the plague, we tried to order everything at least 3 months before the weekend. Even still, there was one damn t-shirt that didn’t arrive until the week before!! Mainly everything listed/ shown in this blog post can be found on Etsy or Amazon. Amazon tended to get things shipped really fast while Etsy was a little more difficult. To avoid the shipping issue, give yourself plenty of time!
Now to the fun part, links to all the decorations! Honestly, I had so much fun picking all of the decor. I especially loved doing the hangover kits for all the girls! The morning after having a few too many cocktails was made less painful by these kits, ha.
I also saved all the behind the scenes and decor photos from the weekend over on my Instagram highlight, found here.

This weekend we headed down to Orange County to see friends and family. Although I LOVE living back in Northern California, I also love Southern California. It is seriously such a fun place to visit because there is so much to do. Orange County has endless healthy restaurants and is basically a playground for someone who loves wellness (me & I know lots of you guys)!! You can go for a beach run and then grab breakfast over at True Foods Kitchen (one of my favorite restaurants) followed by a freeze from Pressed Juicery, and then head over to YogaWorks for a lunchtime flow class.
I made a serious effort not to be working on my phone the whole weekend & to really be present with friends and family so I thought it would be fun to put together this post showing some of my favorite spots! I also will include links to all the outfits I wore during our long weekend getaway. The weather was STUNNING, so it really felt like summer!
HAPPY TUESDAY! I feel like this TUESDAY is an especially happy one because MY EBOOK went live yesterday! GAH! I apologize in advance for all the caps… but really can’t help it because the ebook has been something we’ve been working hard on for the last 4 months or so and I was so excited to launch it today! I’m going to do a full blog post soon on some of my favorite recipes from the ebook and what to expect if you’re interested in purchasing.
It’s been a few weeks since I returned home from Kauai and I feel like I’ve now had enough time to really narrow down the places I want to include in my Kauai travel guide! Our trip was such a blast and we did so much in the time frame of a little over a week that I wanted to make sure I gave myself time to really process all the stops and pick my absolute favorites to share on the blog. This guide is going to include my favorite places that we ate, drank, swam, and visited! You know I’m big into wellness, so consider this kind of like your healthy/ active living guide to all things Kauai. During our time on the island, we stayed in Poipu on the South Shore because it was wintertime and we were wanting to avoid it being very rainy. My family has also stayed on the North Shore before, which they absolutely loved. However, it’s super rainy in the wintertime so we decided to stay in Poipu which ended up working out perfectly! I wanted to keep this post on the shorter side, so I only included the things we did that I absolutely LOVED. Hope you enjoy!!
As promised, today’s post is a full roundup of the beachy outfits & suits I wore during our trip to Kauai over the holidays!
My favorite outfit from this trip was this one and I was actually so disappointed because I couldn’t find the exact suit & coverup by Morena Rosa to link to it. I snagged the look at a boutique in my hometown the night before we left for the trip. However, I’ve listed a bunch of other similar options along with all of my other suits form the trip. A few of my suits are also under $20, and are great deals! I’ve also linked my favorite pair of denim cut-offs!
Let me know if you have any questions about sizing and I’m more than happy to answer!
Every time I leave northern California where I’m from, my heart just feels so full. I truly feel that spending time at home with my family, and visiting Sonoma County in general is one of the things that makes me happiest. The holidays are my favorite because there isn’t much time in-between Thanksgiving and Christmas so I don’t have to be away for very long! I’ll be heading back home in 14 days, but whose counting!? Ha! You might be thinking, OK OK move back already!! Well, we are always thinking about it… I definitely know it’s where I’ll end up and “settle down.” Parts of me know that I would also really miss Southern California. It’s the place where I started this blog that means so much to me and is full of amazing opportunities for blogging in general. Moving back up to Northern CA would essentially be like starting over from a “networking” standpoint. I know that God will reveal to use where he wants us, in His perfect timing. I am constantly reminding myself that His timing isn’t always the same as my timing, haha. Is that something that you guys struggle with too??
Woo Woo, we’ve almost made it to the weekend! Man…. This week…. I have to say I am ready for it to be over. Universally, I think it was just a very sad week. If you lost loved ones in the Las Vegas tragedy, I am praying for you and thinking of you constantly. It’s been difficult to think about anything else this week other than the tragic events that occurred on Sunday. I haven’t wanted to leave the house very much and have really just felt like hunkering down with my loved ones. I’m positive I’m not the only one feeling this way.
