Hi Loves,
I’ve been getting a lot of questions on Instagram recently about which books I’m reading as I often post stories about them! So, I wanted to do a little “book club” with a roundup of some of my favorite books I’ve read so far in 2017. One of my resolutions for 2017 was to “read more” and to read a “greater variety” of books, which I’ve been loving! Reading opens the mind in such an amazing way and I think it’s incredibly important in today’s world where we spend SO much time looking at screens.
There is nothing quite like putting all electronics aways after a certain hour in the evening (I try for 9pm), and getting in bed with a good book. In fact, this is probably my idea of the perfect night! Reading in bed with plenty of time before I have to fall asleep– there is seriously nothing better!
So, here are the top 5 books I’ve loved reading lately!
What a COOL idea for a book! Right!? The author Gretchen, came up with the idea for a “happiness project” while she was on a bus one day. She realized that “the days are long, but the years are short” and decided to embark on a year of happiness. The book outlines the different ways she vows to find happiness in the little things and provides amazing tips in doing so. It even includes a guide for starting your own “happiness project” in the end!
I have to say, this book CHANGED my life. My favorite blogger, The Balanced Blonde recommended it and I honestly couldn’t be more thankful for the impact this book has had on my life. Each chapter in this book is a new lesson or exercise in meditation and really looking at ourselves to figure out what false beliefs or negative stories might be blocking us from reaching our full potential. This book completely changed my perspective on achieving goals and following my dreams and re-ignited my meditation practice in an amazing way! I would recommend it to anyone and everyone who wants to see a positive change in their life.
3. No Worries
The concept for this book/ journal is so simple, but incredibly helpful! It’s basically is a “worry journal” created to shrink and diminish worries. You simply write down the worry that you are focusing on and then write down if there is anything you can do about that worry. If there is something you can do, you write down the simple “action plan” you will take. Then, the book guides you to check back in a few days, 1 week, 1 month, and journal how the situation has played out. When the worry is no longer bothering you, you tear off the corner of the page! It’s been SO cool to see how many of the things I worry about are no longer an issue after a week or so has gone by. It’s also been an incredibly powerful tool in combating anxiety! 🙂
I actually read this book for the first time about a year ago, and instantly fell in love with it. It’s a fictional book about a woman’s life and the two different ways it unfolds based off the concept that there are multiple ways our lives can play out, all depending on the choices we make. This book will get you thinking about all the tiny details of life and how they end up making a huge impact on where we end up! It’s a quick and enchanting read that you will fall in love with. I tell all of my romance lover besties about this book.
5. What Keeps You Up At Night?
This book was written by the pastor at the church I used to attend in Nashville while I was in college. It’s basically a guide to living in faith and trusting God in the midst of the uncertainty that is life. It really inspired me to step out of the box and follow my dreams! I would highly recommend it.
I hope you guys end up loving these books as much as I do. I would love to hear some of your favorite book recommendations!! What should I put on my reading list next?!
Talk soon!!
