Hi All!
Coming at you live from my iPhone hotspot via my Dad’s truck, somewhere in the middle of Idaho!
As I was getting organized in my makeshift office (the front seat of his truck, HA) it popped into my head that I NEED to write about the ways I’ve prepared for this road trip in order to stay on track and not have to eat a ton of crap. In other words, the ways I mealprepped, packed special snacks, supplements, and in general tried to set myself up for success and avoid aggravating any of my food intolerances.
We’ve all been there. You’re stuck in the middle of a long trip or even just a really long day, you’ve eaten all the “healthy snacks” in sight and you decide to pick up a bag of Doritos from the nearest gas station. It’s great for a bit, until you realize what you actually just consumed and have a stomach ache. I’m here today to let you in on some of my favorite tips I used this trip for staying healthy on a summer road trip, weekend getaway, or basically any trip where you have access to your car!
So, lets get into it—
1. Pack Vital Proteins!!
My favorite way to pack these are to pack the individual collagen peptides. I pack a bag of one collagen packet per day to ensure I’m getting the amazing benefits of collagen once (if not more) per day. If you’re someone whose stomach is sensitive to foods, this will be your saving grace. Check out my post on the life changing benefits of collagen here.Β
Collagen is also great because you can put it in oatmeal (I did this with overnight oats this morning), smoothies on the go, and in water. LOVE the collagen beauty water for this, you literally just throw it in the water bottle and go & you’re getting a dose of protein and all the benefits while staying hydrated.Β
2. Bring Brain Octane Oil
If you haven’t tried Bulletproof coffee yet, you simply need to! I haven’t done a full blog post on it (yet), but if you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen my love of bulletproof coffee. Basically, it’s adding healthy fats to your coffee, which is AMAZING for brain power. When I’m traveling, I bring Bulletproof brain octane oil with me and splash it into my coffee and morning latte! When traveling, it isn’t always doable to be able to have full bulletproof coffee every morning, but I’m all about incorporating as many healthy hacks that are also convenient. Tossing the brain octane oil into a travel bag is definitely that!
3. Mealprep Mealprep Mealprep!
The night and the morning before we left for this road trip, I was in the kitchen getting everything together which includes prepping as many meals that I could for the drive! I made two large to-go salads, a huge container of overnight oats, a large container of lentil pasta with turkey, and a bunch of different snacks. Some of my favorite healthy snacks are raw cashews, walnuts, raw sunflower seeds, frozen fruit, apples, mary’s crackers, almond butter, avocado w/ crackers, etc. I’ll also throw together a smoothie in the hotel room in the morning and save it for later in the day for a snack. The recipe for my salads for this trip have been spinach and romaine mixed, lots of nutritional yeast, nuts and seeds, shredded chicken, an avocado, and an olive oil/ balsamic mix! I also love primal kitchen’s honey mustard dressing. This salad dressing is amazing because it doesn’t have any nasty crap in it! It’s one of the only ones I’ve found that doesn’t have a lot of fillers or gums that lead to inflammation in the body.
4. Bring Your Nutribullet!!!
First of all, I am in love with nutribullet (my blender). I use it every single day, if not multiple times per day. It really gets the job done and never leaves things “unblended.” I love the size of my nutribullet because I can bring it along on my travels! Some blenders are bulky and wouldn’t be smart to bring on a trip, but thankfully this one is a great size for doing just that! Like I said above, I packed smoothie ingredients for this trip. I’ve got individually bagged zip locks of Vega Protein Powder and chia seeds, along with greens, almond butter, and frozen berries in the cooler! Then, of course I also throw my collagen in.
5. Individually pack important health items in a bag that’s easily accessible.
One of the most annoying things when traveling on a road trip is when you have multiple bags, and the one that you need stuff out of is buried at the bottom of the pile of luggage. Trust me, I’ve been there! To avoid this, I packed a smaller duffel that has a lot of my beauty products, supplements that I take every morning, and other health products along with snacks. That way, there’s no excuse for forgetting to take that fish oil three days in a row. (; It’s especially important to take your supplements when traveling because traveling can be hard on the body! Let’s give our bodies every support we can so they can function at an optimal level throughout our trips!!
Below are a list of my favorite healthy products that I bring along when I travel, as mentioned above. Make sure to stock up before your next trip! Do you have any holy grail healthy items you bring along when traveling?? Let me know!
In other news, we are officially 4 hours away from Bozeman! It’s around 10:15, so we’re thinking we will arrive at 2am. So late, but so worth the drive to see my brother.
Talk to you soon!

I used to pack all my supplements when traveling just to find them sitting in a corner when I got back so I stopped doing that. Packing the blender sounds like a great idea (we always want to drink smoothies!) but I’m trying to get into a lighter packing routine. I am the person who pack 4 pairs of shoes for a 2 day trip and end up wearing my sandals the whole time, once i get that down, I’ll make sure to take my blender! Lastly, does the collagen dissolve pretty well? I tried taking the beef gelatin (because we had two unused tubs at the house and I thought how bad can it be?! It was not good!) it turns into a very thick liquid and I just couldn’t handle it. That’s all my rambling for today
Thanks for the blog!

Packing the NutriBullet has helped a lot this trip!! Let me know if you bring it along. π
The collagen dissolves fully as long as you use a fork or spoon to mix it up and in hot coffee (and of course smoothies) it always dissolves very quickly! That’s why I like the one I linked in this post, because it’s meant for dissolving quickly. For putting collagen in water, the beauty water is my favorite.
I’ve never tried the beef gelatin!
Thanks for reading lady! XO
