On Today’s Lineup– Collagen Peptides!!!
Happy Wednesday to you! How was your long weekend?? Isn’t coming back to work/ real life after a long weekend kind of a struggle?! I mean, I love a break and a chance for some extra R&R, but I always kind of feel like I’m running on a treadmill to catch up after!
One of things you guys ask me about most on Instagram, is all about the benefits of collagen that I’m always talking about. I mean…. are you sick of hearing me talk about collagen by now?!?! - SKIN HEALTH (specifically for healing acne & acne scarring)!
One of the biggest benefits I’ve noticed is that the stuff seriously helps skin health. This is not some annoying skincare brand “claiming” to help improve skin, that really doesn’t. Vital Proteins is the REAL DEAL guys! I’ve struggled pretty much my whole life with acne, and now that my skin is more balanced, with acne scarring. Taking collagen every single day (sometimes multiple times per day) has seriously been a GAME CHANGER in improving the appearance and TEXTURE of my skin. It has helped SOOOO much!! One of my favorite things ever is when you guys message me on Instagram DM’s and tell me that you’ve started taking the collagen peptides and it’s improving your skin too!! Warms my heart because I know how horrible acne can be for self esteem. 🙁 Trust me, I’ve been there!!! (More on that coming soon, going to do a full acne history post along with what I do now to care for my skin). I think after taking the collagen for about a month (maybe sooner), and being very consistent with it, I started to noticed the skin health benefit. I notice that my acne scars fade MUCH faster than they used to, and when I do have a pimple, it doesn’t last as long. I also notice that my skin has more of a “glowy” look! Who doesn’t want that?!? I attribute much of that glow to the collagen peptides paired with a healthy diet.
2. IMPROVED DIGESTION
As some of you guys may know, I’ve dealt with some pretty annoying food intolerances in the last year. Well, I’ve probably had them my entire life, but they got REALLY bad earlier this year. I had to fully give up both dairy and gluten. During the period of time where I wasn’t sure what exactly I was allergic to, Vital Proteins was a serious lifesaver because I kept it around for when my stomach was acting up. There were multiple occasions where I would go out to a restaurant, eat something with dairy in it, and come home with a killer stomach ache. I quickly learned that drinking my collagen helped my tummy IMMENSELY! This is because Vital Protein’s products contain probiotics and really helps to improve gut health. I am no master in all the knowledge that is gut health, but I do know that this stuff helped my poor stomach when it was angry at the dairy I put into it. After doing some research, I learned that Vital Proteins actually helps to heal a the lining of the gut!

This one is another really important one. I’ve noticed that since I have been taking VP, my muscles seem to recover faster than they used to. This is something I’ve noticed over time, but I don’t doubt that it’s a side effect of the collagen. It makes sense, because Collagen peptides can help with synthesis of creatine in the body! Creatine helps to improve performance during exercise. “Creatine is made of three amino-acids, glycine, arginine, and methionine. Is it making a bit more sense why I am SUCH a big believer in this stuff?! The biggest thing I would say when starting off taking Collagen, would be to BE CONSISTENT! If you are new to the product, try to take it every single day for a month. Once you begin to notice the benefits, trust me you will be hooked!! I literally bring the stuff with me everywhere, It’s one of the first things I pack when I travel, ha!!! When traveling, I bring these packets that are perfect for throwing into your bag!
