Setting up my blog reader

I have found I’ve gotten a little (or a lot) lax on my blog reading lately.  Mostly because my old laptop was out of commission for so long that I started sharing Shawn’s super fancy mac with him.  When I had my own computer, I bookmarked every interesting site in an organized tree, saved any image I found inspiring with handy keywords, and generally fill up the hard drive with such nonsense (well, it’s nonsense to others, but it works perfectly well for me, and I’d love to have my laptop back among the land of the living…)  He wants to keep the mac completely clean of images, links, bookmarks, and the like because this is his computer to edit videos on.  He needs as much storage space for that as possible, so I agreed only to bookmark the most important sites.  This led to my falling behind on my blog readership, mostly because I have to remember every website for the blogs I like the most.

That is, until I discovered a couple of months ago that there is a blog reader you can use!  For some reason, I’ve taken quite some time to get around to setting up my blog reader, but I’m taking tonight to do so.  I’m going to use the Google reader.  I’ve heard it’s very good.  Setting it up is easy enough, and it’s easy to read.  My only complaint is that it’s super boring to look at.  One of the main reasons I like going to my blogs is that they have wonderfully artistic backgrounds, and lots of engaging photos to keep it interesting.  So I can see me clicking through from the reader a lot, I’ll probably mostly use the reader to keep track of my favorites so I don’t have to remember so many websites.

While I’m adding sites to my reader, do you have any recommendations?  I’d love to discover some fun new blogs!  Please share.

p.s.- Please excuse the boring blog post for tonight…getting all those hundreds of blogs together was a full night’s work!  I’m still remembering more….
