Walt Disney World Fantasyland Expansion

Soooooo….I have a confession to make.  I am a Disney-a-holic.  I really can’t get enough.  One would think that after I worked there for 5 months on the Walt Disney World College Program that I would be over it, but I’m not!  In fact, up until 2008, I had been every single year at least once since my internship in 2002.  Sadly, I broke the streak last year, but we are planning a big Allen-family trip in 2011, and I couldn’t be more excited, now that I have heard this exciting news:  Fantasyland will be expanding!  An announcement was made at the recent D23 expo, which is like a huge Disney convention.  They are taking the area currently occupied by Mickey’s Toontown Fair (which I never had much interest in, to be honest) to create an amazing new area.  The new areas won’t be complete until 2012 and 2013 in some cases, but I’m betting some great new stuff will be ready for our trip in two years.

What’s in store, you say?  A lot!  I found a few of the amazing pieces of concept art out now.  Here’s the overall concept of how the Fantasyland area of the park will look after the expansion:

A huge new Dumbo “circus” area:

An entire Little Mermaid themed area with a cool-looking new ride all for Ariel:

I’ll have to hold on tight to my man’s hand while we’re near Ariel.  She’s the only girl that I’m worried about my man running away with.  (He has a huge crush on Ariel, and it’s no secret!)  Lucky for me, she’s a mermaid.

Also, they’re putting in Cinderella’s country estate, Sleeping Beauty’s castle, Belle’s father’s house, and the Beast’s castle, and finally, a Tinkerbell “pixie forest.”  I’m impressed and super excited.

Here’s a video explaining it all with some more beautiful concept art.  Take a look:

If you’re a Disney freak like me, you can view images and discussion of the expansion on WDWmagic.  It’s so exciting!  For some reason, the thing I’m most excited about is exploring the pixie forest.  What’s your favorite part of the new Fantasyland?
